I had a nice Sunday Morning meander this past weekend. Tony Varaderro schemed up this ride and Dusty and I met him near Hartenbos on Sunday at 6:30am.
After looking at some maps we hit the dirt just West of Hartenbos, direction Hartebeeskuil Dam.
The usually green Southern Cape is really struggling with the drought we're having.
This area has quite a few game farms and before long we started spotting some wildlife. These farms are on either side of the public roads so you can have a ride through several game farms without needing permits or entrance fees. We spotted several species including Zebra, Spring buck, Bush buck, Oryx, Sable and Eland among others.
Heading North towards the Outeniqua Mountain range.
These early morning rides are a great way to start the day. We stopped at Eight Bells Mountain Inn for breakfast just after 8 am.
Before long more bikes were popping in.
Some shiny BMW's:
My TransAlp next to his Granddaddy. This thing is HUGE.
Next we hit the gravel towards Great Brak, riding through the Botlierskop Game Reserve.
Great view of the Great Brak river mouth:
The whole circle route from George to George was 150km and comprised of 50/50 tar and gravel farm roads. A nice and easy scenic quicky. Thanks Tony and Dusty for a nice ride
