SCDSB - Lunch at Angie's

.

The Southern Cape Dual Sport Bikers had their 2nd run this Sunday, following the 7 passes to Knysna and crossing the magnificent Prins Alfreds Pass to De Vlugt for lunch. Just a short report with pictures.

First stop - The old Kaaimans Pass:

Another stop at Hoogekraal Pass if I remember correctly:

Approaching Knysna via Phantom Pass:

Then we hit the Knysna Forrest roads:

Coming over the top of the mountain.

Descending to De Vlugt - in ride perspective:

In De Vlugt we were welcomed by Harold & Angie where we had a nice lunch and lots of laughs!

There were several other bikes there and all the while we were there bikes arrived and left, including a young couple on a new Tenere who stopped and promtly fell over. Why do these things always happen when you have 20 people watching? Was a nice bike though.

Some others:

The we hit the gravel again via the De Vlugt road to the Langkloof and the Kammanassie road back.

It was nice having a pillion with. We will have a "pillion run" in the near future.

Kammanassie Road:

Lots of these around the Southern Cape these days

Approaching the Outeniqua mountains:

Looking back towards Herold:

And finally the ride down:

Thanks guys! It was a really nice day

The February trip will be a sleepover trip in the Klein Karoo.

Short Report - South Cape Breakfast Run

.

I was lucky enough to be invited on a Dual Sport breakfast run this Sunday morning. The run was organized by some Mosselbay riders who got together in Hartenbos and then the George riders joined on the Outeniqua Pass at the Montagu Pass turn-off.

When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see a whole host of bikes there. 17 in total if I remember correctly.

Soon we were on our way heading over the very scenic Montagu Pass:

The weather played along and we had a picture perfect day. Halfway through the Langkloof we stopped at Nolshalte for fuel.

Hitting the gravel again - the turn-off to De Vlugt:

Having some fun:

Great scenery; perfect day!

In De Vlugt we had our first pitstop for refreshments at Angie's G-spot. We had a great selection of bikes with TransAlps, V-stroms and XT660's very well represented. There was also a pristine example of a Honda Africa Twin

A great spot, always a favourite with bikers

Eventually we had to get going again. This "Breakfast Run" was fast turning into a "Lunch Run"

Heading over Prince Alfreds Pass towards Knysna:

Kom-se-Pad:

In-ride shot - TransAlps running together

We rode into Knysna and headed to the waterfront for lunch.

What a nice social outride. It was great meeting a lot of new local riders After lunch we were running late so we hit the N2 home.

Our route for the day:

I rode 211km for the day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to the organizers I hope there is another outride soon!
