Just had a great trip from Windhoek to here. Going west from Windhoek over boshua pass - another steep one! Lots of boons 20, 30 then 14 even eating the flowers of the quiver trees, huge trees there. I had a few wild camps then on the way to Spitzkoppe an awesome place, huge rock faces even had a snake for company that night. I saw the last 2 metres of it so I was into the tent.
A jackal raced me for a while down the road. To brandberg for a sunset on the west side that's when the bike decided to have a sleep in the deep sand, we were both tired by then. Over to a camp for a good rest you need it after a few days of sand/gravel bashing. At the camp donkeys kept the camp up all night. In the morning the guy next door greeted me with fu*^#!+!@# donkeys.
Nice birdlife now hornbills etc. Past a huge group of springbok roughly 157. The riding temps are nice and cool nights that will change soon. The cops did a license check i didn't tell him it was upside down. Something weird now there are ducks in the desert no water or lakes, what? Just before the ugab river I came across 15 desert elephants - an awesome sight! They leave behind huge steaming piles of grass, then a guy in a 4x4 said there were more behind me so a good time to move there were 7 more of them, 5 young ones.
Then to the petrified forest trees from the congo billions of years ago. Next to xarado camp and a nice rest and great to meet Christine, Dan and Lynette thanks very much for looking after me. Dan is bacon still alive? I got to see the rock engravings at Twyfelfontein a lot better than I thought.
The ride from there north to sesfontein was great into savannah, nice mountains, some boons then across the plains seeing some mountain zebra and oryx then a young giraffe was in the middle of the road and mum just of to the side, also lots of springbok(bokkie). I had a swim at ongongo falls the kids on the way in running around naked in the dust, hands out for money.
Yesterday through Sesfontein for gas and to see the fort then give some guys a hand with a puncture. Near that were massive baobab trees, then into farm country small herds of cows, goats and into black africa now with mud huts and rondavels. Seeing the himba and herero tribes now, rest today then north to epupa falls tomorrow.
